Level 2 Community Treatment Order (up to 12 months)

You can use this form for:

  • A new Level 2 Community Treatment Order
  • To renew a Level 2 Community Treatment Order
  • Apply for a Level 2 Community Treatment Order as part of a Level 1 CTO review

A Level 2 CTO may only be made by the Board.

  • A new Level 3 Inpatient Treatment Order
  • To renew an exisiting Level 3 Inpatient Treatment Order

A Level 3 Inpatient Treatment Order may only be made by the Guardianship Board.

The Guardianship Board may provide approval for Electro-convulsive Therapy (ECT) where the patient cannot provide effective consent.

Appeals to the Guardianship Board

People have a right to appeal against orders if they think that the doctors/treating team were wrong in making an order or that proper procedures were not followed. The Guardianship Board can hear appeals where the order was made by a clinician, these include:

  • Level 1 Community Treatment Order
  • Level 1 Inpatient Treatment Order
  • Level 2 Inpatient Treatment Order
  • Section 70 appeal (against a patient transfer to an interstate treatment centre)
